CoverGirl Product Review

Hello!

Today I wanted to share my thoughts on a couple makeup products that I have been using. I was going through a phase where I didn’t like any of the makeup I had especially my foundation. It always looked patchy, didn’t apply well and would always rub off no matter how much powder and spray I used. I know that’s such a minimal problem, but it was really frustrating because it was happening with some of my favorite foundations. Anyways I decided to try out some new products and a couple that I picked up where the CoverGirl Clean Matte BB Cream for oily skin and the CoverGirl Color Naturalizing Skin Primer.

I hadn’t read any reviews on either product, so they where purchased on a bit of a whim. What drew me to the BB cream was that it was specifically geared toward oily skin. And my skin has been very oily recently. Especially around my nose. If you’ve ever tried the Maybelline BB cream with the blue cap or the one with the white cap the consistency and texture of this is very similar to those. However unlike those products in my opinion and my experience I prefer this one a lot more. This one applies so nicely to my skin no matter if I use a brush or sponge. It blends in nicely into my skin and doesn’t look cakey. I would describe the coverage as medium but buildable.

With other foundations I was trying or using they would look great when I first applied it, but as the day went on it wouldn’t look as great and I’d come across problems I mentioned earlier. One big one was foundation wouldn’t stay on my nose no matter what I used for primer or spray it run right off especially around my nose. I won’t lie throughout the day some of this product will rub off, but for the most part it stays on pretty well.

My opinion of the primer won’t be as in depth as the foundation because I’m not really sure how detailed you can get about a primer… but anyways I was relatively surprised by this product. Having suffered from a lot of redness especially around my cheeks I have tried many different color reducing primers, and typically wasn’t super impressed with them. They did a good job at providing a base for my makeup, but in regards to reducing redness I didn’t notice a change. With this primer I actually see a difference after it is applied. This does a great job at helping to apply this BB cream really well. That is the only foundation I’ve used with this primer, so I don’t know how well it works with others. Overall I like everything about this primer: consistency, how it applies, lasting ability.

And those are my thoughts on a couple new products. Let me know if you’ve tried these and what you think.

Love Beauty and Planet Review

Hello!

It seems like this brand Love Beauty and Planet has been highly promoted recently. I decided to check it out and see if the hype was worth it, so I purchased the smooth and serene duo. There are three other duos maybe four, so there are choices which I think is smart. Firstly, I really like the packaging and think the design is very pretty. In regards to smell I wasn’t a huge fan of any of them, but this is the one I liked the most. I personally didn’t find that it smelled of lavender, and if it does it is a very faint smell. Not a major negative, but still something I wanted to share. In regards to the actual quality of the product this did a great job at cleaning my hair, and not to be gross it had been a while since my hair was washed (over a week). I used about two pumps, and that was more then enough. I could probably get away with using less because the products lather really well especially the shampoo. The conditioner did a awesome job at untangling the ends of my hair and it did it really easily. Overall I am happy that I purchased this set and will continue to use it. Have you tried any products from this brand yet? What were your thoughts on them?

My Shower Essentials

Hello!

Today I am sharing my must haves for the shower from shampoo to shaving cream. I’m also talking about what I use to moisturize after I’m out of the shower.

Let me know what your fave shower products are!

Hair Products

TRESemmé Touchable Softness Shampoo and Conditioner: I have used TRESemmé for years not like a couple of years, but like since the beginning of High School which was 10 ish years ago. I love how soft it leaves my hair, it does a great job at getting out the tangles in my hair, and it leaves it looking so clean over all.

– EVA NYC Therapy Session Hair Mask: The smell alone is what sold me on this product. It smells so good. Obviously though I wanted the actual product to work well and thankfully it did. This is another great detangling product and it leaves my hair feeling so unbelievably soft like run your fingers all the way through your hair soft.

Body Wash

Dove Purely Pampering Body Wash: I am a big fan of Dove. Aside from there body wash I also love their deodorant and bar soap. I like that their body washes smell great without being over powering. This body wash is so moisturizing and leaves my skin feeling so soft.

– Lush Whoosh Shower Jelly: I didn’t jump onto the Lush Band Wagon until earlier this year (yeah, I know.) Just like the Dove body wash this has such a great scent without being over powering. The smell of this wakes me up, so I enjoy using this when I take a shower in the morning. I just think the idea of a shower jelly is so fun! With this product a little bit goes a long way. I will use a quarter sized piece and it lathers up so much into my wash cloth.

Shaving

Shaving Razor: I don’t have a favorite razor. I do typically buy Venus, but I have bought Gillette before along with those cheap, could cut your whole leg open razors (thankfully they didn’t) what I am saying is I don’t have a brand or specific razor that is my tried and try and true, my most repurchased, must have razor. As long as it shaves my legs and doesn’t cut me I like it.

– Barbasol Soothing Aloe Shaving Cream: Years ago one of my friends told me that she used Barbasol to shave her legs and ever since that recommendation it’s what I have been using. Firstly this stuff is only a $1.49, but secondly I haven’t found another shaving cream that leaves my skin feeling as soft as this does.

– 4-in-1 Foot Paddle: I know this isn’t a shaving product, but I still wanted to include it because it’s a great product, and I do use it in the shower. I am one of those unlucky people that suffer from very dry (let me emphasize the word dry) feet. Especially on my heels (sorry if you dislike feet) Anyways, this product has been such a big help to getting my skin more soft plus it’s so easy to use being a 4-in-1 product.

Moisturizer

Neutrogena Body Oil: This is another item that I have used for years. This is so lightweight, absorbs quickly, and once again is a product that smells good without being over powering. I will note that the scent is not long lasting, but that isn’t something that is a con to me. I specifically use this on my legs typically after I shave. It leaves my skin feeling so soft and does a great job at locking in moisture.

– Gold Bond Ultimate Radiance Renewal: This is a thick lotion, so if you don’t like that you may not enjoy this lotion, but I prefer a thicker lotion especially for my legs. This is probably a lotion more gear towards the winter time, but I still enjoy using it during the summer time.

And that is everything that I consider essentials for in the shower. Let me know what your shower must haves are!

Another Makeup Cleanout

Hello!

Yes. Once again I am doing another makeup clean out. I know I just did one of these last week and another one a while back, but I had so much expired makeup and I just kept finding more. This is most definitely my biggest clean out yet, and I have a feeling it’ll be a while until I have another one that is this large. All of the makeup I am getting rid of in this post was from my makeup organizer which is technically a jewelry holder, but I don’t wear jewelry. Anyways, all of the makeup in there was past expiration, so therefore another clear out. I figured I would share what I am getting rid of.

I’m not going to go in depth about the products and share my thoughts on them because there is a lot, so if you wanna know what I think of something and if I’d repurchase it recommend it just let me know!

P.S. I am messing with photo apps to figure out how I want my pictures to look, so that’s why some of them look different.

My 10 Minute Makeup Routine

Hello!

Today I wanted to share my 10 minute sometimes less makeup routine. Don’t get me wrong I love makeup and I love wearing makeup, but most days I don’t want to be spending 45+ minutes getting ready for the day. I’d much rather go for a simple, not very time consuming look.

Are you a full glam all the time kind of person or do you usually go for a more simple look? Let me know!

Here are all the products I use for my 10 minute makeup routine

  • NYX Shine Killer Primer: My go-to primer at the moment. I love how it feels on my skin.
  • Maybelline  Instant Age Rewind Treatment Makeup: My favorite foundation at the moment. The coverage is great, it applies well onto my skin and it lasts all day.
  • Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer: I think this is my most repurchased concealer ever. It is such a great concealer and a must have product in my opinion. Just like the foundation the coverage of this is great and it has pretty impressive lasting abilites
  • ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzer: I mainly use this just for the bronzer, but some days I do use the blush. I am not looking for an intense bronzer look just to look a bit more sun kissed.
  • IBY Beauty Dessert Vibes Palette: I know this this is probably a palette more gear towards fall/winter looks since it is mainly warm toned, but I don’t base palettes I use off of seasons but more off of what I am liking at the moment. For an everyday look I typically will just use the shades Low Key and Cali Sun and blend them all over my eyelid and some days I will add the shade Insta Story over top.
  • Tarte Maneater Mascara: Mascara is probably the product I rotate through the most. I will usually have 3-4 mascaras I am using at a time where as I will use the same foundation, concealer, finishing powder etc everyday for a while.
  • Maybelline Setting and Perfecting Loose Powder: I love how soft this feels on my face. I don’t know if that is the right word, but hopefully it makes sense… Anyways aside from feeling lovely on my skin this does a great job at setting my makeup.
  • Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick in Shade 10: I usually do not to a red lip, actually I pretty much never do a red lip as I am somewhat intimidated by it, but on this day I decided to step out of my comfort zone and give it a try. Not sure if I will do it more regularly now, but I will say I did like it.

And those are the products I use for my easy 10 minute makeup look. Let me know what your typical makeup routine looks like!

Current Skincare Routine & Favorite Cotton Pads

Current Skincare Routine & Favorite Cotton Pads

Hello!
I shared my nightly skin care routine pretty much a month ago, and while I usually don’t switch out products this quickly (unless they are pretty bad) my skin recently had a really bad breakout especially around my chin (that is where I break out the most) and I also suffer from significant redness around my cheeks. I can’t remember a time where they weren’t red. I think the stress of moving and the fact I have been in a funk lately took a toll on my skin. I realized the products I were using weren’t helping me in the moment so I went to my skin care products draw and pulled out some different products to try in hopes that they would help clear my skin. Spoiler alert: they have!

I wasn’t expecting these products to make my skin looking incredible and clear of spots/redness.  I realized a long time ago that with how my skin is that’s gonna take a dermatologist and/or a lot of money, but what I was looking for were products that would help clean out my skin and minimize my spots.

Cleansers

I alternate between these two washes.

– Don’t Be So Sensitive Find Here: My mom actually gave me this face wash when I was home in Michigan and was complaining to her about how red my face had been. The purpose of this wash is to use after post procedures such as waxing, but we figured I would try it to see if it helped reduce the redness on my face. I have noticed that while it hasn’t totally eliminated it it has helped to alleviate redness especially around my cheeks where it is typically the worst. I will also say a little of this goes a long way. I only use a dime sized drop and it will lather up to cover my entire face.

– Neutrogena Clear Pore Face Cleanser/ Mask Find Here: This has been a favorite product of mine for many years (not the same bottle of course) anytime I use this my skin feels so much cleaner and I will notice right away if not the next day my zits looking smaller and dried out. This works great both as a cleanser or a mask. I will say it has a cooling sensation when used as a mask and that will cause the redness to inflame, but it goes down shortly after being used.

Exfoliator

Philosophy Micro Delivery Exfoliating  Wash Find Here: This is a great product for cleansing away dead skin cells to reveal more clean and rejuvenated skin. I use this product 2-3 times a week. I like how gentle this wash is on my skin yet  tough on dirt and impurities.

Toner

– Clean and Clear Astringent Find Here : I feel like I am back in my high school days using C&C. Anyways this astringent is great for drying out spots and removing impurities. I will put a couple squirts of this on a cotton pad and hold it down where I have several spots. After some time the spots are both dried out and minimized.

Face Mask

– Freeman Purifying Clay Mask Find Here: I use this mask 3-4 times a week and it leaves my skin feeling so squeaky clean. It draws out impurities and leaves my skin feeling so soft and moisturized.

Moisturizer

-The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion Find Here: Tea Tree is a great product for acne prone skin at least it has been for me. This lotion helps control the oils of my skin specifically around my t-zone and well as helps dry out my spots.

Cotton Pads

– Shiseido Facial Cotton Find Here : I know what your thinking.. what is so great about cotton pads?! Well if you have used these ones, you know what is so great about them! Believe me I was in the same boat thinking all cotton pads are alike well they aren’t these ones are the best! They are gentle on skin yet so effective at taking off my makeup without any harsh rubbing.

And those are all of the products I am currently using to help out my skin. If you are wondering I use these products both in the morning and evening minus the exfoliator and face which I will use in the evening on varying days. What does your skin care routine currently look like?

Makeup Clear out: What am I Getting Rid Of?

Makeup Clear out: What am I Getting Rid Of?

Hello!

Okay, so, I have no issues admitting that I am addicted to buying makeup because it’s 100% true and has been for the past 5 ish years. Now they do say admitting you have a problem is the first step, so there was me admitting my problem. Unfortunately for the longest time I wasn’t doing anything about it which led to a makeup collection that was way to unnecessary especially since I use the same 5-10 products unless I am testing out new stuff. Anyways I have come to the realization that I don’t need all the makeup I have and that I need to get better about returning products I don’t like or pitching things I haven’t used for a while or that have gone past their expiration dates. I am trying to get better about cleaning out my makeup, and I am not sure if this will be monthly, bi monthly or if it will just happen randomly.

I decided to do one of these clean outs yesterday and I am sharing what I am getting rid of. I will say unless a product 100% flops or doesn’t work for me personally I will keep it for about a month or two just so I can use it multiple times before I make a final decision on if I want to keep it or not.

Foundations and Powder

Neutrogena Skin Clearing Mineral Powder: I used this stuff in high school and for most of college, and I LOVED it. It was a ride or die, repurchase it over and over again product. Unfortunately when I tried it out a while back recently I didn’t get the same results I remembered getting which was disappointing. I didn’t find that the coverage was as good, so this is going goodbye!

– Maybelline 24 Hour Superstay Foundation: I wanted to love this foundation and while I found the coverage was great at the beginning and it applied well as the day went on this foundation made my skin look so oily and it would start to break up especially around my t-zone.

– Revlon Photo-Ready Instafix: I am really starting to get into stick foundations (yes I know I’m late to the party) and I saw that I had this in my makeup collection, so I decided to give it a try. Sadly this stick foundation was a thumbs down. This just didn’t work for at all. I had the hardest time applying it because no matter what I used it just seemed to grab onto the brush or sponge and not my skin. It would look like I had no product on, so therefore the coverage was non existent. This did not work for me.

Primer and Concealer

Milani Prime Correct Face Primer: I suffer from pretty severe redness on my face especially on my cheeks, so if I see a product claiming to reduce redness I want to try it. I am a big fan of Milani, but unfortunately this product did not make my favorites list. I didn’t mind how it felt on my skin and I found it blended nicely, but it didn’t help reduce my redness, and that is what I was hoping for.

– Covergirl Revitalist Healthy Concealer: I am all about the new look of covergirl and I do think they are coming out this some really cool products, but this concealer is not one of them in my opinion (yours might be different and that is awesome!) I just found that this concealer did no…. concealing. After applying this I would still see my spots, and I know this isn’t full coverage, but I was still expecting some sort of coverage.

– Neutrogena Skin Clearing Concealer: This was another concealer that provided little to no coverage, and I was looking for something more.

Lip Gloss

-Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss: I have started getting more into lip products lately. I still haven’t decided if I am a lipgloss or lipstick kind of girl, but I have decided that these lipglosses did not work for me. I absolutely loved this color, but when I applied them they were way to sticky and I couldn’t deal with that feeling all day.

And that is everything I am getting rid of. I will say that this post is in no way to bash any of them companies. I have products from all of these ranges that I love and use all the time. I am just keeping it real in that not everything I try will be a favorite. Let me know if you do one of these clear outs or on an opposite note what products you have been LOVING lately!!

Drugstore Makeup Haul

Drugstore Makeup Haul

Hello!
I recently popped into Walmart with the intention of getting some paint supplies for our house, but of course I am incapable of  going in somewhere and just getting what I need, so I walk out with some more things that necessary including makeup (shocker). To be honest though I haven’t been very happy with my makeup lately. It might be the fact that it is so hot here in Oklahoma, but lately my makeup has looked so patchy even when I wear my favorite foundations that used to stay on all day long. I intended on just getting a couple foundations, but of course that didn’t happen… Anyways, I am going to give all these products a try and decide what I think is worth keeping.

On a somewhat different note, but still relatable I just wanted to share a tip if you’d call it that with you guys. On the back of all makeup items there is a small jar with a number in it for example 18m, That means an item is good for 18 months after opening. I’m sure some of you already knew that, but I didn’t till recently, so I wanted to share!

Here is what I got!

Primer

  • Maybelline Master Prime Blur + Redness. The primer I got isn’t available online for some reason, so the link is for another master primer, but the one I got is available in stores.
  • Rimmel Stay Matte Primer
  • NYX Shine Killer Primer
  • NYX Eyeshadow Base

Foundation, Concealer, and Contour

Finishing Powder and Spray

And that is everything I got. If you tried any of these products let me know your thoughts on them! I’m looking forward to trying these products out (minus a couple I’ve already tried like the age rewind concealer).

Maybelline Superstay Foundation Review

Maybelline Superstay Foundation Review

Foundation– Sun Beige/ Eye Palette- limited edition/ PrimerEye PrimerLash PrimerMascaraConcealerBronzerLipstick– Romantic Rose/ Finishing Powder

Hello!
Here’s  a story for you… Awhile back when I was talking with my mom she bet me $50 to not buy makeup until my husband and I came to visit them in Michigan. Well I ain’t getting my $50 because I lasted all of 4 ish weeks which is actually pretty good for me but still I lost the bet! There’s just so much stuff out there I want to try one of those things being a new foundation from Maybelline which is the product I will be talking about today. I did link other products used, but I am not going to talk about those in this post, so if you would like more info on any of the other items featured just comment below!

The Maybelline Superstay foundation claims to be full coverage, minimizes the appearance of flaws and imperfections, evens out, enhances, camouflages, doesn’t clog pores and more. Who wouldn’t want a foundation to do all of that?! I know I do which is why I bought this to see if it really can. I will note that today was the first day I tried this foundation, and I like using something several times before I make my decision on if I like it or not. I also like to apply it differently (sponge, brush) before I decide if it’s good or not. Today I applied it using a foundation brush and while I did think it applied well (a little goes a long way) as the day went on I found it was starting to get a bit patchy especially around my t-zone. I don’t know if this is due entirely to the foundation or perhaps the primer and finishing powder didn’t set it well, so that is something that can be determined after a few uses of the foundation. I do agree that when first applied, and a while after this product does seem to be full coverage, and I did find my skin to be more even with less texture apparent. However, as I mentioned as the day went on it begin to look patchy and my skin appeared quite oily. In regards to removal it came off easily with my face wash. Overall based off first impression I like how it applied and initially looked on my skin, but as the day wore on I wasn’t as big of a fan. Have you tried this product? What are your thoughts on it? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed! xx
