Hello Friends!
I recently ordered this Under the Christmas Tree eye shadow and face set from Too Faced on Nordstrom and I am so excited to try it. No I haven’t actually tried it out yet, but I am going to soon. I just had to get swatches up because I think these shades are so pretty and you can create so many different looks with these colors.  I received last years Too Faced Christmas set as a gift, and I real liked it and used it all the time, so I hoping I have the same experience with this one. If you want to order this it is still 30% off at Nordstrom making it $34.00 instead of $49.00!
Have you gotten this set and/or tried it yet! Let me know!

Small Ulta Makeup Haul

Happy Almost New Year, friends!

I hope you all had/are having a wonderful holiday season. How did you spend your time? Now matter how I hope it was enjoyable. The hubby and I have been in Michigan spending time with my side of the family which has been so nice since we only seen them 1-2 times a year with living out of state. I was telling my mom how I’m going to be in trouble when we get back on a work schedule in a few days because I’ve been sleeping in until 11:30 almost everyday on this trip. I have also been doing a lot of shopping since we need to travel quite far for any good shopping where we are located in Oklahoma. I haven’t gotten to many things since we are flying home, but I have picked up a few things like some makeup from Ulta which I wanted to share with you all! Let me know what your current favorite makeup items are at the moment!

– the first thing I’m going to talk about is the Estée Lauder Double Wear Foudation: Now I was like how some of you might be, and thought this foundation can’t be that good. I mean sure everyone and their dog seems to be talking about it, but is it really that good? And I can now say that (in my opinion) yes it is! I am so mad at myself for waiting so long to buy this product! The coverage is amazing and the product just applies so nicely to the skin.

– Target Shape Tape Concealer: I used to use this all the time when it first came out, but then I stopped for some reason. I had always like this concealer and am happy I decided to buy it again. I like how much coverage it gives without being to cakey!

– Makeup Revolution Banana Baking Powder: I had seen so many you tubers and insta-bloggers that I follow talking about this powder, so i decided to give it a try. This stuff does such a great job and setting under eyes and baking. My only complaint is that the lid is so small it’s hard to hold product, so I wise it was a bit wider.

– L’Oréal Infallible Pro Sweep & Lock Finishing Powder: I read that this was a great finishing powder for oily skin which is how my t-zone is, so I bought this. It has a bit of a weird scent to it which might turn some people off, but I’m not to bothered by it and I do find that it sets my makeup really well especially in my t-zone which is where my makeup kept appearing very patchy.

– L’Oréal Infallible Matte Lock Primer: This is another product that I read works well for oily skin. I find that this does a great job at locking in the oils and keeping my face looking matte all day.

– Morphe Lip Gloss in “Boho”: I picked this up when I was standing in line I always grab the most random things from this bins at the front of the store. Does anyone else? i have never tried Morphe Lip Gloss and funny enough I’m actually not a huge lip gloss person, but I ended up really liking this and use it daily. I love how hydrating it is and the color last for so long, and doesn’t transfer to badly.

And that is everything I got from my lastest trip to Ulta. Let me know if you buy any of these items and what you think of them!

CoverGirl Product Review

Today I wanted to share my thoughts on a couple makeup products that I have been using. I was going through a phase where I didn’t like any of the makeup I had especially my foundation. It always looked patchy, didn’t apply well and would always rub off no matter how much powder and spray I used. I know that’s such a minimal problem, but it was really frustrating because it was happening with some of my favorite foundations. Anyways I decided to try out some new products and a couple that I picked up where the CoverGirl Clean Matte BB Cream for oily skin and the CoverGirl Color Naturalizing Skin Primer.

I hadn’t read any reviews on either product, so they where purchased on a bit of a whim. What drew me to the BB cream was that it was specifically geared toward oily skin. And my skin has been very oily recently. Especially around my nose. If you’ve ever tried the Maybelline BB cream with the blue cap or the one with the white cap the consistency and texture of this is very similar to those. However unlike those products in my opinion and my experience I prefer this one a lot more. This one applies so nicely to my skin no matter if I use a brush or sponge. It blends in nicely into my skin and doesn’t look cakey. I would describe the coverage as medium but buildable.

With other foundations I was trying or using they would look great when I first applied it, but as the day went on it wouldn’t look as great and I’d come across problems I mentioned earlier. One big one was foundation wouldn’t stay on my nose no matter what I used for primer or spray it run right off especially around my nose. I won’t lie throughout the day some of this product will rub off, but for the most part it stays on pretty well.

My opinion of the primer won’t be as in depth as the foundation because I’m not really sure how detailed you can get about a primer… but anyways I was relatively surprised by this product. Having suffered from a lot of redness especially around my cheeks I have tried many different color reducing primers, and typically wasn’t super impressed with them. They did a good job at providing a base for my makeup, but in regards to reducing redness I didn’t notice a change. With this primer I actually see a difference after it is applied. This does a great job at helping to apply this BB cream really well. That is the only foundation I’ve used with this primer, so I don’t know how well it works with others. Overall I like everything about this primer: consistency, how it applies, lasting ability.

And those are my thoughts on a couple new products. Let me know if you’ve tried these and what you think.

Fall Makeup Look

Well I guess we can agree that fall is in full swing on this blog seeing as the last three post including this one have been fall themed. This wasn’t intentional, but I am totally fine with it.

Today I wanted to share a fall themed makeup look. I find that I am more open to experimenting with different makeup looks during the fall because I love some many of the colors that are in trend. I am in no means an expert or even that great at makeup, but it’s still something I enjoy doing.

All products I have used for this look have been mentioned on my blog in previous post

My 10 Minute Makeup Routine

Today I wanted to share my 10 minute sometimes less makeup routine. Don’t get me wrong I love makeup and I love wearing makeup, but most days I don’t want to be spending 45+ minutes getting ready for the day. I’d much rather go for a simple, not very time consuming look.

Are you a full glam all the time kind of person or do you usually go for a more simple look? Let me know!

Here are all the products I use for my 10 minute makeup routine

  • NYX Shine Killer Primer: My go-to primer at the moment. I love how it feels on my skin.
  • Maybelline  Instant Age Rewind Treatment Makeup: My favorite foundation at the moment. The coverage is great, it applies well onto my skin and it lasts all day.
  • Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer: I think this is my most repurchased concealer ever. It is such a great concealer and a must have product in my opinion. Just like the foundation the coverage of this is great and it has pretty impressive lasting abilites
  • ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzer: I mainly use this just for the bronzer, but some days I do use the blush. I am not looking for an intense bronzer look just to look a bit more sun kissed.
  • IBY Beauty Dessert Vibes Palette: I know this this is probably a palette more gear towards fall/winter looks since it is mainly warm toned, but I don’t base palettes I use off of seasons but more off of what I am liking at the moment. For an everyday look I typically will just use the shades Low Key and Cali Sun and blend them all over my eyelid and some days I will add the shade Insta Story over top.
  • Tarte Maneater Mascara: Mascara is probably the product I rotate through the most. I will usually have 3-4 mascaras I am using at a time where as I will use the same foundation, concealer, finishing powder etc everyday for a while.
  • Maybelline Setting and Perfecting Loose Powder: I love how soft this feels on my face. I don’t know if that is the right word, but hopefully it makes sense… Anyways aside from feeling lovely on my skin this does a great job at setting my makeup.
  • Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick in Shade 10: I usually do not to a red lip, actually I pretty much never do a red lip as I am somewhat intimidated by it, but on this day I decided to step out of my comfort zone and give it a try. Not sure if I will do it more regularly now, but I will say I did like it.

And those are the products I use for my easy 10 minute makeup look. Let me know what your typical makeup routine looks like!

Drugstore Makeup Haul

Drugstore Makeup Haul

I recently popped into Walmart with the intention of getting some paint supplies for our house, but of course I am incapable of  going in somewhere and just getting what I need, so I walk out with some more things that necessary including makeup (shocker). To be honest though I haven’t been very happy with my makeup lately. It might be the fact that it is so hot here in Oklahoma, but lately my makeup has looked so patchy even when I wear my favorite foundations that used to stay on all day long. I intended on just getting a couple foundations, but of course that didn’t happen… Anyways, I am going to give all these products a try and decide what I think is worth keeping.

On a somewhat different note, but still relatable I just wanted to share a tip if you’d call it that with you guys. On the back of all makeup items there is a small jar with a number in it for example 18m, That means an item is good for 18 months after opening. I’m sure some of you already knew that, but I didn’t till recently, so I wanted to share!

Here is what I got!

  • Maybelline Master Prime Blur + Redness. The primer I got isn’t available online for some reason, so the link is for another master primer, but the one I got is available in stores.
  • Rimmel Stay Matte Primer
  • NYX Shine Killer Primer
  • NYX Eyeshadow Base

Foundation, Concealer, and Contour

Finishing Powder and Spray

And that is everything I got. If you tried any of these products let me know your thoughts on them! I’m looking forward to trying these products out (minus a couple I’ve already tried like the age rewind concealer).

Product Pitch: Would I Repurchase?

Product Pitch: Would I Repurchase?

I recently decided to clean through my makeup collection as it was long overdue. I thought I’d share what I’m getting rid of let you know if I would repurchase the product or not and why. Perhaps I can do this every few months or so. Let me know if that would be interesting!

Let’s talk primers first

– Smashbox photo finish primer: I heard so many great reviews about this primer, and how fantastic it was. Personally I didn’t see the hype with it. I didn’t think it was bad, but I also thought I could get the same results from a more affordable primer. Therefore I would not repurchase.

– NYX Angel Veil Primer: Seeing how I’m getting rid of two already answers the questions if I’d repurchase this. I think this is a fantastic primer not only for the price but overall. It feels great on my skin and sets my makeup really well. Yes I’d repurchase.

– L’Oreal Lumi Cushion Compact: I’ll just cut right to it… I did not like this foundation. It looked so patchy on my skin, it dragged whether I applied it with the cushion, a brush, or blender sponge. It made my skin look oily. It just wasn’t good. This will not be repurchased.

– Maybelline BB Fresh: Thankfully this one applied better and while I like the idea of a B.B. cream for more casual makeup days, there was one problem with this one which was the finish. While it applied nicely as the day went on the product would separate specifically around my t-zone, and I would just look very oily. I might try the other B.B. cream from Maybelline in the blue package, but I would not repurchase this one.

– IT cosmetics CC+ Cream: Now this is a fantastic B.B. cream totally worth the price and hype. This is a medium to full coverage foundation that hides spots, texture etc without being heavy or feeling cakey. It applies nicely to the skin, looks natural and lasts all day. Yes I would repurchase this.

– L’Oreal True Match: If you saw my mini makeup haul a couple post back you will see I bought a new one of these, so yes I’d repurchase this product. This might be my favorite drugstore foundation of all time. I love it! It applies well to the skin whether I use a brush or sponge. I have used different primers and it always looks good. The coverage is medium but buildable. Like the CC+ it has a natural finish that looks good all day long.

– Maybelline Better Skin: I went through so many of these when this product came out several years back because it covered my spots so well. I would repurchase this because I know that it works well for me and as I said covers my spots well and helps my skin appear more even and less textured.

– Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define: After a couple times trying this product I went online and ordered not one not two but three (there was a sale), but still three! This is such a good concealer. It is a great dupe to the Too Faced Born This Way concealer. I actually prefer the Makeup Revolution one. Yes I would repurchase!

– Maybelline Fit Me Concealer: ok this might be gross, but I don’t know how long this specific concealer has been sitting in my makeup bin, so I haven’t used in a long time and therefore I have forgotten if I liked it or not. Have you tried this? If you have and remember what you thought about it let me know if you think it’s worth a repurchase!!

– Physicians Formula #InstaReady Concealer: While the Makeup Revolution is my #1 concealer this one is a close second. There have actually been a few times where I’ve thrown on primer, this concealer, and setting powder, and that was my makeup for the day. This concealer covers spots as well as a full coverage foundation without feeling heavy or like it’s just sitting on top of your skin. It looks as good at the end of the day as it did at the beginning. Yes I would repurchase.

Eye Products

– Covergirl Peacock Flare Mascara: The packaging of this is so cute and I was a fan of the wand however this made my lashes feel so dry and my God was it a pain to get off at night. I made my lashes look good (long and voluminous) but due to how it felt on my eyes and it being a pain to remove I don’t think I’d repurchase. Plus I have so many other mascaras I know work well and that I like a lot more.

– Estée Lauder Eye Pencil: This came as a freebie in a mascara gift set I bought so if I was going to buy it it would be a purchase not a repurchase I suppose. I will however not be buying this eyeliner. One for the fact I don’t wear eyeliner except for maybe once a year and when I do I prefer liquid, and second because I didn’t think this worked well. It just dragged along my eyelid and tugged at it. Perhaps it’s my minimal talent when it comes to eyeliner, but I never liked the outcome when I used this as it just looked sloppy.

– Kate for Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick: I forgot to look at what shade this was and I threw it away already *facepalm* I do know it was a light pink. I liked the shade of this lipstick, but not the finish as I felt it dried my lips out. There are other matte lipsticks I prefer over this one, so I would not repurchase.

And that is everything I’m getting rid of. I didn’t really think about what I’d repurchase until I sat down to put together this post, and I was quite surprised at how much I wouldn’t buy again. What are some products your pitching? Would you buy them again?! Let me know in the comments.

Luxie Perfection Brush Set

Luxie Perfection Brush Set

Wow has life been busy.  My husband and I have been spending the last couple of weeks getting everything packed up in our apartment, and I can say with a huge sigh of relief we are officially moved out as of two days ago. I am a little sad to leave only because that is the first place we lived together, but we are moving to a house with a lot more space, so I can’t complain to much. I’m sure I will be doing a few home posts soon since we will be painting and doing some cosmetic fixes to the place. Since we were busy with the move the blog wasn’t getting very much attention, but thankfully that is about to change because not only do I have more free time I have also made a few orders, so I have a few things coming in the mail to share with ya’ll the first thing being the star of today’s post which is this beautiful brush set from Luxie.

Find the set here

As you can see if you click the link or know about this brand this brush set can be seen as a bit of an investment. However, it’s been so long since I have bought new makeup brushes and so I figured why not make the investment. I received a Luxie brush in a Ipsy bag a few years back, and I still use it to this day so I know that they are well made and can last a long time. I haven’t tried out any of the brushes in the set, but I am excited to do so. I am especially looking forward to seeing how well the eye brushes work. Although part of me doesn’t even want to get these brushes dirty because they are so pretty. I would say off looks alone they are worth the money. They feel very sturdy and it’s easy to tell they are high quality brushes. Plus the bristles are very soft. Honestly for 12 high quality, well made brushes $110 isn’t that bad.

Brushes included (taken from Nordstrom)

– 502 Large Powder Face Brush

– 504 Large Angled Face Brush

– 508 Duo Fibre Stippling Face Brush

– 510 Foundation Face Brush

– 205 Tapered Blending Eye Brush

– 207 Medium Angled Shading Eye Brush

– 209 Large Shader Eye Brush

– 211 Concealer Eye Brush

– 213 Eye Shading Eye Brush

– 215 Small Angle Eye Brush

– 217 Pencil Eye Brush

– 219 Eyeliner Eye Brush

I am very excited to try out these brushes. Let me know if you guys are interested in seeing my thoughts on any or all the brushes once I’ve used them. Are you a fan of Luxie? If so let me know what some of your favorite things from them are!

How I Get My Makeup To Last All Day

How I Get My Makeup To Last All Day

It’s something all makeup wearers have struggled with at some point, the dreaded challenge of getting your makeup to last all day. This can be especially daunting in the hot summer days or when your day is more active and you find yourself working up a sweat. For the longest time I couldn’t figure out how to make my makeup stay all day. My mascara would flake off, my eyeshadow would just disappear and my foundation don’t even get me started on how patchy it would look… I have tried a multitude of finishing powders, primers, and facial sprays to help, and while I tried some definite misses some of them were major hits in my book, and those are the products I’ll be talking about today. This is of course based off personal preference what works for me may not necessarily work for someone else, but I still wanted to share in case you are inspired to try any of these products

The first thing I do to get my makeup to last longer is apply a primer. We all have our favorites but this Angel Veil primer by NYX and this Blemish Control Face Primer by ELF Cosmetics (which I need to reorder) are two of my favorites. Both apply well to the skin, absorb quickly and make for a great base before applying foundation.

Something that has been a major game changer for me in getting my foundation to last longer throughout the day and also apply finishing powder before foundation. My two favorite ones to use are the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder and the Coty Airspun Translucent Loose Powder both are insanely affordable (under $6) and feel so nice on the skin. I love both of them but if I had to be honest the Coty one is my favorite and my all time favorite face powder ever. I will repurchase it again and again. I do still set my foundation after concealer and bronzer, but adding powder before foundation has been such a game changer to how long my makeup last. I have really noticed a difference with not only how well it last and looks throughout the day but also how nicely my foundation applied every since I started using this trick.

I have used eyeshadow primer since I first started using makeup I am a firm believer  that it makes a huge difference in wear time and application. Just like many I love the Urban Decay primer potion and a few others ranging from high end to low end, but this
Lid Lock Up Eyeshadow Primer by Covergirl is so good ya’ll! And it under $10. There is a reason this product has 4 star rating on the Ulta website. If you are looking for dupe to the Urban Decay  primer potion try this. I mean $10 compared to $22 that’s 1/2 the price.
In regards to helping my mascara apply better and last longer I have been loving the Estee Lauder Little Black Primer Tint. I received a mini size of this in a value pack with the matching mascara and an eyeliner, but I am planning on getting a full size of this because I love it so much. I haven’t always been one to use lash primer and honestly used to think it wasn’t all that necessary, but this makes such a difference in how long and volumized my lashes look. Also this helps my mascara last longer throughout the day and not clump of flake off.

And finally the last product I use to help my makeup last all day is the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater. I know the Urban Decay makeup setting spray is so hyped up and so many people say that it’s the best spray, and I do think it’s good, but ya’ll just save your money and buy this one (It’s under $15). This spray is so refreshing I use it even when I am not wearing makeup to freshen up my skin. It dries quickly, absorbs well into the skin, and helps makeup last all day.

And there you have it all the products I use to help my makeup stay all day and look just as good at the end of the day as it did when I first applied it.

Drugstore beauty products I love

Drugstore beauty products I love

Today I wanted to share some of my favorite beauty products from the drugstore. I did have some more, but as you can see from the photo above I will be talking about quite a few products, so I didn’t want to go too overboard. I love high end makeup just as much as the next beauty lover, but you can’t beat good quality products at good prices. Let me know what your favorite drugstore products are after reading this!

This is in no particular order of likability

Milani Most Loved Mattes Eyeshadow Palette – This is a great everyday palette

Flower Beauty Light Illusion Full Coverage Concealer– I use this on my undereyes and for spot coverage. It does a great job at concealing said spots and reducing the look of puffiness around my eyes

Wet N Wild MegaGlo Contouring Palette – I’m no contouring expert, so what I like about this is how simple it is. I will say there is a lot of fallout, but I am fine with that personally.

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream – This is great for when you don’t want to do a full on makeup look, but still want some extra coverage for the day. I use this  a lot during the summer.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder – This seems to be a favorite product amongst the beauty community, and rightfully so. Good product and a good price win-win

Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Concealer – I’ve repurchased this a few times. I find it does a good job at concealing dark spots and blemishes

Revlon ColorStay Makeup – This is my current everyday foundation. I love how well it applies, the coverage, and the lasting time.

L’Oreal True Match Foundation – I love almost everything about this except how small of a bottle it comes in. Anyone else else wish it was bigger?

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara – I have repurchased this products 3-4 times and will do so again. It gives your lashes great length, volume and definition everything I look for in mascara this has.

CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Mascara – This is another great mascara that gives lashes good length an volume. Honestly I have never tried a mascara from Maybelline or CoverGirl that I didn’t like.

Coty Airspun Translucent Powder – From the first time I tried this product I have loved it, and have used it on a daily basis. I went and repurchased it before my first one was even 1/2 way empty. It just does a great job at setting makeup.

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer – This seems to be another beauty favorite for many and its understandable why. This bronzer gives you such a natural glow and it smells delicious which is a plus in my book.

Angel Veil Skin Perfecting Primer  – I always use drugstore primer (I think I have used two high end ones since I started wearing makeup around 15) and while I like most of them and have no problems with them this one is my favorite. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and any foundation I wear applies really well on top of it.

Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Full Coverage Concealer – How much do I love this? I repurchased not one but four more of these after using it only a few times. I don’t use this as a contour product, but to conceal and it does an amazing job.

Physicians Formula #InstaReady Concealer – Another concealer that does a great job at covering blemish spots and acne scars

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss – I own a few different shades from this range, but 008 is my favorite. This is a great matte lipstick with great lasting power.

Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick – On the opposite end, but still keeping with the Rimmel brand (their lip products are bomb) this lipstick comes in a variety of beautiful colors and it is very moisturizing.

And there you have it (most) of my favorite drugstore makeup products. Let me know what products you love and will never hesitate to repurchase!
