Small Ulta Makeup Haul

Happy Almost New Year, friends!

I hope you all had/are having a wonderful holiday season. How did you spend your time? Now matter how I hope it was enjoyable. The hubby and I have been in Michigan spending time with my side of the family which has been so nice since we only seen them 1-2 times a year with living out of state. I was telling my mom how I’m going to be in trouble when we get back on a work schedule in a few days because I’ve been sleeping in until 11:30 almost everyday on this trip. I have also been doing a lot of shopping since we need to travel quite far for any good shopping where we are located in Oklahoma. I haven’t gotten to many things since we are flying home, but I have picked up a few things like some makeup from Ulta which I wanted to share with you all! Let me know what your current favorite makeup items are at the moment!

– the first thing I’m going to talk about is the Estée Lauder Double Wear Foudation: Now I was like how some of you might be, and thought this foundation can’t be that good. I mean sure everyone and their dog seems to be talking about it, but is it really that good? And I can now say that (in my opinion) yes it is! I am so mad at myself for waiting so long to buy this product! The coverage is amazing and the product just applies so nicely to the skin.

– Target Shape Tape Concealer: I used to use this all the time when it first came out, but then I stopped for some reason. I had always like this concealer and am happy I decided to buy it again. I like how much coverage it gives without being to cakey!

– Makeup Revolution Banana Baking Powder: I had seen so many you tubers and insta-bloggers that I follow talking about this powder, so i decided to give it a try. This stuff does such a great job and setting under eyes and baking. My only complaint is that the lid is so small it’s hard to hold product, so I wise it was a bit wider.

– L’Oréal Infallible Pro Sweep & Lock Finishing Powder: I read that this was a great finishing powder for oily skin which is how my t-zone is, so I bought this. It has a bit of a weird scent to it which might turn some people off, but I’m not to bothered by it and I do find that it sets my makeup really well especially in my t-zone which is where my makeup kept appearing very patchy.

– L’Oréal Infallible Matte Lock Primer: This is another product that I read works well for oily skin. I find that this does a great job at locking in the oils and keeping my face looking matte all day.

– Morphe Lip Gloss in “Boho”: I picked this up when I was standing in line I always grab the most random things from this bins at the front of the store. Does anyone else? i have never tried Morphe Lip Gloss and funny enough I’m actually not a huge lip gloss person, but I ended up really liking this and use it daily. I love how hydrating it is and the color last for so long, and doesn’t transfer to badly.

And that is everything I got from my lastest trip to Ulta. Let me know if you buy any of these items and what you think of them!

CoverGirl Product Review

Hello!

Today I wanted to share my thoughts on a couple makeup products that I have been using. I was going through a phase where I didn’t like any of the makeup I had especially my foundation. It always looked patchy, didn’t apply well and would always rub off no matter how much powder and spray I used. I know that’s such a minimal problem, but it was really frustrating because it was happening with some of my favorite foundations. Anyways I decided to try out some new products and a couple that I picked up where the CoverGirl Clean Matte BB Cream for oily skin and the CoverGirl Color Naturalizing Skin Primer.

I hadn’t read any reviews on either product, so they where purchased on a bit of a whim. What drew me to the BB cream was that it was specifically geared toward oily skin. And my skin has been very oily recently. Especially around my nose. If you’ve ever tried the Maybelline BB cream with the blue cap or the one with the white cap the consistency and texture of this is very similar to those. However unlike those products in my opinion and my experience I prefer this one a lot more. This one applies so nicely to my skin no matter if I use a brush or sponge. It blends in nicely into my skin and doesn’t look cakey. I would describe the coverage as medium but buildable.

With other foundations I was trying or using they would look great when I first applied it, but as the day went on it wouldn’t look as great and I’d come across problems I mentioned earlier. One big one was foundation wouldn’t stay on my nose no matter what I used for primer or spray it run right off especially around my nose. I won’t lie throughout the day some of this product will rub off, but for the most part it stays on pretty well.

My opinion of the primer won’t be as in depth as the foundation because I’m not really sure how detailed you can get about a primer… but anyways I was relatively surprised by this product. Having suffered from a lot of redness especially around my cheeks I have tried many different color reducing primers, and typically wasn’t super impressed with them. They did a good job at providing a base for my makeup, but in regards to reducing redness I didn’t notice a change. With this primer I actually see a difference after it is applied. This does a great job at helping to apply this BB cream really well. That is the only foundation I’ve used with this primer, so I don’t know how well it works with others. Overall I like everything about this primer: consistency, how it applies, lasting ability.

And those are my thoughts on a couple new products. Let me know if you’ve tried these and what you think.

Makeup Clear out: What am I Getting Rid Of?

Makeup Clear out: What am I Getting Rid Of?

Hello!

Okay, so, I have no issues admitting that I am addicted to buying makeup because it’s 100% true and has been for the past 5 ish years. Now they do say admitting you have a problem is the first step, so there was me admitting my problem. Unfortunately for the longest time I wasn’t doing anything about it which led to a makeup collection that was way to unnecessary especially since I use the same 5-10 products unless I am testing out new stuff. Anyways I have come to the realization that I don’t need all the makeup I have and that I need to get better about returning products I don’t like or pitching things I haven’t used for a while or that have gone past their expiration dates. I am trying to get better about cleaning out my makeup, and I am not sure if this will be monthly, bi monthly or if it will just happen randomly.

I decided to do one of these clean outs yesterday and I am sharing what I am getting rid of. I will say unless a product 100% flops or doesn’t work for me personally I will keep it for about a month or two just so I can use it multiple times before I make a final decision on if I want to keep it or not.

Foundations and Powder

Neutrogena Skin Clearing Mineral Powder: I used this stuff in high school and for most of college, and I LOVED it. It was a ride or die, repurchase it over and over again product. Unfortunately when I tried it out a while back recently I didn’t get the same results I remembered getting which was disappointing. I didn’t find that the coverage was as good, so this is going goodbye!

– Maybelline 24 Hour Superstay Foundation: I wanted to love this foundation and while I found the coverage was great at the beginning and it applied well as the day went on this foundation made my skin look so oily and it would start to break up especially around my t-zone.

– Revlon Photo-Ready Instafix: I am really starting to get into stick foundations (yes I know I’m late to the party) and I saw that I had this in my makeup collection, so I decided to give it a try. Sadly this stick foundation was a thumbs down. This just didn’t work for at all. I had the hardest time applying it because no matter what I used it just seemed to grab onto the brush or sponge and not my skin. It would look like I had no product on, so therefore the coverage was non existent. This did not work for me.

Primer and Concealer

Milani Prime Correct Face Primer: I suffer from pretty severe redness on my face especially on my cheeks, so if I see a product claiming to reduce redness I want to try it. I am a big fan of Milani, but unfortunately this product did not make my favorites list. I didn’t mind how it felt on my skin and I found it blended nicely, but it didn’t help reduce my redness, and that is what I was hoping for.

– Covergirl Revitalist Healthy Concealer: I am all about the new look of covergirl and I do think they are coming out this some really cool products, but this concealer is not one of them in my opinion (yours might be different and that is awesome!) I just found that this concealer did no…. concealing. After applying this I would still see my spots, and I know this isn’t full coverage, but I was still expecting some sort of coverage.

– Neutrogena Skin Clearing Concealer: This was another concealer that provided little to no coverage, and I was looking for something more.

Lip Gloss

-Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss: I have started getting more into lip products lately. I still haven’t decided if I am a lipgloss or lipstick kind of girl, but I have decided that these lipglosses did not work for me. I absolutely loved this color, but when I applied them they were way to sticky and I couldn’t deal with that feeling all day.

And that is everything I am getting rid of. I will say that this post is in no way to bash any of them companies. I have products from all of these ranges that I love and use all the time. I am just keeping it real in that not everything I try will be a favorite. Let me know if you do one of these clear outs or on an opposite note what products you have been LOVING lately!!

Product Pitch: Would I Repurchase?

Product Pitch: Would I Repurchase?

Hello!

I recently decided to clean through my makeup collection as it was long overdue. I thought I’d share what I’m getting rid of let you know if I would repurchase the product or not and why. Perhaps I can do this every few months or so. Let me know if that would be interesting!

Let’s talk primers first

– Smashbox photo finish primer: I heard so many great reviews about this primer, and how fantastic it was. Personally I didn’t see the hype with it. I didn’t think it was bad, but I also thought I could get the same results from a more affordable primer. Therefore I would not repurchase.

– NYX Angel Veil Primer: Seeing how I’m getting rid of two already answers the questions if I’d repurchase this. I think this is a fantastic primer not only for the price but overall. It feels great on my skin and sets my makeup really well. Yes I’d repurchase.

Foundation

– L’Oreal Lumi Cushion Compact: I’ll just cut right to it… I did not like this foundation. It looked so patchy on my skin, it dragged whether I applied it with the cushion, a brush, or blender sponge. It made my skin look oily. It just wasn’t good. This will not be repurchased.

– Maybelline BB Fresh: Thankfully this one applied better and while I like the idea of a B.B. cream for more casual makeup days, there was one problem with this one which was the finish. While it applied nicely as the day went on the product would separate specifically around my t-zone, and I would just look very oily. I might try the other B.B. cream from Maybelline in the blue package, but I would not repurchase this one.

– IT cosmetics CC+ Cream: Now this is a fantastic B.B. cream totally worth the price and hype. This is a medium to full coverage foundation that hides spots, texture etc without being heavy or feeling cakey. It applies nicely to the skin, looks natural and lasts all day. Yes I would repurchase this.

– L’Oreal True Match: If you saw my mini makeup haul a couple post back you will see I bought a new one of these, so yes I’d repurchase this product. This might be my favorite drugstore foundation of all time. I love it! It applies well to the skin whether I use a brush or sponge. I have used different primers and it always looks good. The coverage is medium but buildable. Like the CC+ it has a natural finish that looks good all day long.

Concealer

– Maybelline Better Skin: I went through so many of these when this product came out several years back because it covered my spots so well. I would repurchase this because I know that it works well for me and as I said covers my spots well and helps my skin appear more even and less textured.

– Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define: After a couple times trying this product I went online and ordered not one not two but three (there was a sale), but still three! This is such a good concealer. It is a great dupe to the Too Faced Born This Way concealer. I actually prefer the Makeup Revolution one. Yes I would repurchase!

– Maybelline Fit Me Concealer: ok this might be gross, but I don’t know how long this specific concealer has been sitting in my makeup bin, so I haven’t used in a long time and therefore I have forgotten if I liked it or not. Have you tried this? If you have and remember what you thought about it let me know if you think it’s worth a repurchase!!

– Physicians Formula #InstaReady Concealer: While the Makeup Revolution is my #1 concealer this one is a close second. There have actually been a few times where I’ve thrown on primer, this concealer, and setting powder, and that was my makeup for the day. This concealer covers spots as well as a full coverage foundation without feeling heavy or like it’s just sitting on top of your skin. It looks as good at the end of the day as it did at the beginning. Yes I would repurchase.

Eye Products

– Covergirl Peacock Flare Mascara: The packaging of this is so cute and I was a fan of the wand however this made my lashes feel so dry and my God was it a pain to get off at night. I made my lashes look good (long and voluminous) but due to how it felt on my eyes and it being a pain to remove I don’t think I’d repurchase. Plus I have so many other mascaras I know work well and that I like a lot more.

– Estée Lauder Eye Pencil: This came as a freebie in a mascara gift set I bought so if I was going to buy it it would be a purchase not a repurchase I suppose. I will however not be buying this eyeliner. One for the fact I don’t wear eyeliner except for maybe once a year and when I do I prefer liquid, and second because I didn’t think this worked well. It just dragged along my eyelid and tugged at it. Perhaps it’s my minimal talent when it comes to eyeliner, but I never liked the outcome when I used this as it just looked sloppy.

Lips

– Kate for Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick: I forgot to look at what shade this was and I threw it away already *facepalm* I do know it was a light pink. I liked the shade of this lipstick, but not the finish as I felt it dried my lips out. There are other matte lipsticks I prefer over this one, so I would not repurchase.

And that is everything I’m getting rid of. I didn’t really think about what I’d repurchase until I sat down to put together this post, and I was quite surprised at how much I wouldn’t buy again. What are some products your pitching? Would you buy them again?! Let me know in the comments.

Burt’s Bees Goodness Glows Foundation Review

Burt’s Bees Goodness Glows Foundation Review

I’ve been using makeup for as long as i can remember, but to be honest I never really stopped to think about what I was putting on my skin and how it could be affected. I’m always conscious when it comes to washing my face and making sure my face is clean and makeup is removed, but I wanted to start making sure my skin is being treated better when i do have makeup on. I decided to wanted to check out more natural and organic makeup products. However, i didn’t wanna overwhelm myself and dive in head first, so I’m taking it in steps and introducing new products gradually. My first product is the one I wanna talk about today which is the Burt’s Bee’s Goodness Glows foundation. Keep reading to check out my thoughts on this product.

About the foundation: taken from the description on Ulta, Burt’s says that this foundation is “full coverage, mineral makeup that will leave your skin smooth and radiant. The finish is natural and not cakey or greasy” it is 98.9% natural and moisturizing. In regards to ingredients it is “Formulated without parabens, phthalates, SLS, petroleum or synthetic fragrances.”

Packaging: the packaging for this foundation feels very sturdy and well made. The design is simple but not bland. My favorite part of the packaging is the pump. I love when foundations have a pump as it just makes dispensing so much easier then the risk of dumping way to much product on the back of my hand.

Shade range: this line offers 12 different shades and to be honest I find that a few of the shades are very close to one another and don’t provide that much of a variety. This seems to be a large discussion within the beauty world of brands not offering a large range of shades. I feel that although it’s a good start, Burt’s can definitely add more choices.

Application: I applied this using my elf ultimate blending brush. The product blended well into my skin. There was no streaking or patches. Also, i didn’t have to apply a lot of product I did a pump to a pump and 1/2

How it wore: while I liked how the product looked when it was first applied, I did feel that in regards to long wear it isn’t the best. As the day went on the foundation started to separate especially around my nose. My skin also became quite oily specifically on the sides of my nose and chin. I didn’t reapply my powder, so I’m not sure if that would have fixed it or not. Aside from separating the product still had decent coverage in the areas that it didn’t. It looked smooth on my cheeks and forehead. While the foundation did a good job and covering up my redness and evening out my skin tone I wouldn’t go as far as calling it full coverage but rather a medium one. I still have some bumps and acne scars that were still visible after wearing the foundation so I did apply concealer on top of the foundation. However, our skin isn’t all the same, so maybe it will wear better for other people. Also, most foundation separates around my nose and therefore i wasn’t to upset about it.

Overall thoughts: Overall I do like the foundation and have been wearing it quite a lot . Is it my favorite foundation ever? No but it’s not my least favorite. I think if you are looking for a good everyday foundation that looks natural this is a good choice. I am hoping that Burt’s Bee’s comes out with more makeup products. I’d really like to try and concealer form them and see how it pairs with the foundation.

Have you tried this foundation or any Burt Bee beauty products? What were your thoughts on them?
