Swatches

Hello Friends!
I recently ordered this Under the Christmas Tree eye shadow and face set from Too Faced on Nordstrom and I am so excited to try it. No I haven’t actually tried it out yet, but I am going to soon. I just had to get swatches up because I think these shades are so pretty and you can create so many different looks with these colors.  I received last years Too Faced Christmas set as a gift, and I real liked it and used it all the time, so I hoping I have the same experience with this one. If you want to order this it is still 30% off at Nordstrom making it $34.00 instead of $49.00!
Have you gotten this set and/or tried it yet! Let me know!

Small Ulta Makeup Haul

Happy Almost New Year, friends!

I hope you all had/are having a wonderful holiday season. How did you spend your time? Now matter how I hope it was enjoyable. The hubby and I have been in Michigan spending time with my side of the family which has been so nice since we only seen them 1-2 times a year with living out of state. I was telling my mom how I’m going to be in trouble when we get back on a work schedule in a few days because I’ve been sleeping in until 11:30 almost everyday on this trip. I have also been doing a lot of shopping since we need to travel quite far for any good shopping where we are located in Oklahoma. I haven’t gotten to many things since we are flying home, but I have picked up a few things like some makeup from Ulta which I wanted to share with you all! Let me know what your current favorite makeup items are at the moment!

– the first thing I’m going to talk about is the Estée Lauder Double Wear Foudation: Now I was like how some of you might be, and thought this foundation can’t be that good. I mean sure everyone and their dog seems to be talking about it, but is it really that good? And I can now say that (in my opinion) yes it is! I am so mad at myself for waiting so long to buy this product! The coverage is amazing and the product just applies so nicely to the skin.

– Target Shape Tape Concealer: I used to use this all the time when it first came out, but then I stopped for some reason. I had always like this concealer and am happy I decided to buy it again. I like how much coverage it gives without being to cakey!

– Makeup Revolution Banana Baking Powder: I had seen so many you tubers and insta-bloggers that I follow talking about this powder, so i decided to give it a try. This stuff does such a great job and setting under eyes and baking. My only complaint is that the lid is so small it’s hard to hold product, so I wise it was a bit wider.

– L’Oréal Infallible Pro Sweep & Lock Finishing Powder: I read that this was a great finishing powder for oily skin which is how my t-zone is, so I bought this. It has a bit of a weird scent to it which might turn some people off, but I’m not to bothered by it and I do find that it sets my makeup really well especially in my t-zone which is where my makeup kept appearing very patchy.

– L’Oréal Infallible Matte Lock Primer: This is another product that I read works well for oily skin. I find that this does a great job at locking in the oils and keeping my face looking matte all day.

– Morphe Lip Gloss in “Boho”: I picked this up when I was standing in line I always grab the most random things from this bins at the front of the store. Does anyone else? i have never tried Morphe Lip Gloss and funny enough I’m actually not a huge lip gloss person, but I ended up really liking this and use it daily. I love how hydrating it is and the color last for so long, and doesn’t transfer to badly.

And that is everything I got from my lastest trip to Ulta. Let me know if you buy any of these items and what you think of them!

CoverGirl Product Review

Hello!

Today I wanted to share my thoughts on a couple makeup products that I have been using. I was going through a phase where I didn’t like any of the makeup I had especially my foundation. It always looked patchy, didn’t apply well and would always rub off no matter how much powder and spray I used. I know that’s such a minimal problem, but it was really frustrating because it was happening with some of my favorite foundations. Anyways I decided to try out some new products and a couple that I picked up where the CoverGirl Clean Matte BB Cream for oily skin and the CoverGirl Color Naturalizing Skin Primer.

I hadn’t read any reviews on either product, so they where purchased on a bit of a whim. What drew me to the BB cream was that it was specifically geared toward oily skin. And my skin has been very oily recently. Especially around my nose. If you’ve ever tried the Maybelline BB cream with the blue cap or the one with the white cap the consistency and texture of this is very similar to those. However unlike those products in my opinion and my experience I prefer this one a lot more. This one applies so nicely to my skin no matter if I use a brush or sponge. It blends in nicely into my skin and doesn’t look cakey. I would describe the coverage as medium but buildable.

With other foundations I was trying or using they would look great when I first applied it, but as the day went on it wouldn’t look as great and I’d come across problems I mentioned earlier. One big one was foundation wouldn’t stay on my nose no matter what I used for primer or spray it run right off especially around my nose. I won’t lie throughout the day some of this product will rub off, but for the most part it stays on pretty well.

My opinion of the primer won’t be as in depth as the foundation because I’m not really sure how detailed you can get about a primer… but anyways I was relatively surprised by this product. Having suffered from a lot of redness especially around my cheeks I have tried many different color reducing primers, and typically wasn’t super impressed with them. They did a good job at providing a base for my makeup, but in regards to reducing redness I didn’t notice a change. With this primer I actually see a difference after it is applied. This does a great job at helping to apply this BB cream really well. That is the only foundation I’ve used with this primer, so I don’t know how well it works with others. Overall I like everything about this primer: consistency, how it applies, lasting ability.

And those are my thoughts on a couple new products. Let me know if you’ve tried these and what you think.

Another Makeup Cleanout

Hello!

Yes. Once again I am doing another makeup clean out. I know I just did one of these last week and another one a while back, but I had so much expired makeup and I just kept finding more. This is most definitely my biggest clean out yet, and I have a feeling it’ll be a while until I have another one that is this large. All of the makeup I am getting rid of in this post was from my makeup organizer which is technically a jewelry holder, but I don’t wear jewelry. Anyways, all of the makeup in there was past expiration, so therefore another clear out. I figured I would share what I am getting rid of.

I’m not going to go in depth about the products and share my thoughts on them because there is a lot, so if you wanna know what I think of something and if I’d repurchase it recommend it just let me know!

P.S. I am messing with photo apps to figure out how I want my pictures to look, so that’s why some of them look different.

Makeup Clear out: What am I Getting Rid Of?

Makeup Clear out: What am I Getting Rid Of?

Hello!

Okay, so, I have no issues admitting that I am addicted to buying makeup because it’s 100% true and has been for the past 5 ish years. Now they do say admitting you have a problem is the first step, so there was me admitting my problem. Unfortunately for the longest time I wasn’t doing anything about it which led to a makeup collection that was way to unnecessary especially since I use the same 5-10 products unless I am testing out new stuff. Anyways I have come to the realization that I don’t need all the makeup I have and that I need to get better about returning products I don’t like or pitching things I haven’t used for a while or that have gone past their expiration dates. I am trying to get better about cleaning out my makeup, and I am not sure if this will be monthly, bi monthly or if it will just happen randomly.

I decided to do one of these clean outs yesterday and I am sharing what I am getting rid of. I will say unless a product 100% flops or doesn’t work for me personally I will keep it for about a month or two just so I can use it multiple times before I make a final decision on if I want to keep it or not.

Foundations and Powder

Neutrogena Skin Clearing Mineral Powder: I used this stuff in high school and for most of college, and I LOVED it. It was a ride or die, repurchase it over and over again product. Unfortunately when I tried it out a while back recently I didn’t get the same results I remembered getting which was disappointing. I didn’t find that the coverage was as good, so this is going goodbye!

– Maybelline 24 Hour Superstay Foundation: I wanted to love this foundation and while I found the coverage was great at the beginning and it applied well as the day went on this foundation made my skin look so oily and it would start to break up especially around my t-zone.

– Revlon Photo-Ready Instafix: I am really starting to get into stick foundations (yes I know I’m late to the party) and I saw that I had this in my makeup collection, so I decided to give it a try. Sadly this stick foundation was a thumbs down. This just didn’t work for at all. I had the hardest time applying it because no matter what I used it just seemed to grab onto the brush or sponge and not my skin. It would look like I had no product on, so therefore the coverage was non existent. This did not work for me.

Primer and Concealer

Milani Prime Correct Face Primer: I suffer from pretty severe redness on my face especially on my cheeks, so if I see a product claiming to reduce redness I want to try it. I am a big fan of Milani, but unfortunately this product did not make my favorites list. I didn’t mind how it felt on my skin and I found it blended nicely, but it didn’t help reduce my redness, and that is what I was hoping for.

– Covergirl Revitalist Healthy Concealer: I am all about the new look of covergirl and I do think they are coming out this some really cool products, but this concealer is not one of them in my opinion (yours might be different and that is awesome!) I just found that this concealer did no…. concealing. After applying this I would still see my spots, and I know this isn’t full coverage, but I was still expecting some sort of coverage.

– Neutrogena Skin Clearing Concealer: This was another concealer that provided little to no coverage, and I was looking for something more.

Lip Gloss

-Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss: I have started getting more into lip products lately. I still haven’t decided if I am a lipgloss or lipstick kind of girl, but I have decided that these lipglosses did not work for me. I absolutely loved this color, but when I applied them they were way to sticky and I couldn’t deal with that feeling all day.

And that is everything I am getting rid of. I will say that this post is in no way to bash any of them companies. I have products from all of these ranges that I love and use all the time. I am just keeping it real in that not everything I try will be a favorite. Let me know if you do one of these clear outs or on an opposite note what products you have been LOVING lately!!

Hello!!

I recently got my July Yas Oh Yas box and I wanted to share what came in it. If you are unfamiliar with Yas Oh Yas it is a monthly subscription that sends you 5 products for $14.99.

I do have a promo code to receive 10% off your first box! Click the link here and use code YOY

Alrighty here is what I received in this months YOY package

Please excuse the lighting. We don’t have blinds in our living room yet and the sun was out shining in all its glory (not that I am complaining)

This beautiful eye palette from IBY Beauty is without a doubt the product I’m most excited to try. I think all the shades are so pretty.

I am always looking to try new face products to help my skin, so I’m looking forward to trying this stuff.

The other products I received were a eyeliner, lip pencil, and lipstick. I am not sure how much I will use the lip liner or eyeliner seeing as I don’t use those items in my routine, but I will at least try them once.

And that is everything I got. Let me know if you decide to try this subscription and if you do, don’t forget to use my code I shared above.

Drugstore Makeup Haul

Drugstore Makeup Haul

Hello!
I recently popped into Walmart with the intention of getting some paint supplies for our house, but of course I am incapable of  going in somewhere and just getting what I need, so I walk out with some more things that necessary including makeup (shocker). To be honest though I haven’t been very happy with my makeup lately. It might be the fact that it is so hot here in Oklahoma, but lately my makeup has looked so patchy even when I wear my favorite foundations that used to stay on all day long. I intended on just getting a couple foundations, but of course that didn’t happen… Anyways, I am going to give all these products a try and decide what I think is worth keeping.

On a somewhat different note, but still relatable I just wanted to share a tip if you’d call it that with you guys. On the back of all makeup items there is a small jar with a number in it for example 18m, That means an item is good for 18 months after opening. I’m sure some of you already knew that, but I didn’t till recently, so I wanted to share!

Here is what I got!

Primer

  • Maybelline Master Prime Blur + Redness. The primer I got isn’t available online for some reason, so the link is for another master primer, but the one I got is available in stores.
  • Rimmel Stay Matte Primer
  • NYX Shine Killer Primer
  • NYX Eyeshadow Base

Foundation, Concealer, and Contour

Finishing Powder and Spray

And that is everything I got. If you tried any of these products let me know your thoughts on them! I’m looking forward to trying these products out (minus a couple I’ve already tried like the age rewind concealer).

Maybelline Superstay Foundation Review

Maybelline Superstay Foundation Review

Foundation– Sun Beige/ Eye Palette- limited edition/ PrimerEye PrimerLash PrimerMascaraConcealerBronzerLipstick– Romantic Rose/ Finishing Powder

Hello!
Here’s  a story for you… Awhile back when I was talking with my mom she bet me $50 to not buy makeup until my husband and I came to visit them in Michigan. Well I ain’t getting my $50 because I lasted all of 4 ish weeks which is actually pretty good for me but still I lost the bet! There’s just so much stuff out there I want to try one of those things being a new foundation from Maybelline which is the product I will be talking about today. I did link other products used, but I am not going to talk about those in this post, so if you would like more info on any of the other items featured just comment below!

The Maybelline Superstay foundation claims to be full coverage, minimizes the appearance of flaws and imperfections, evens out, enhances, camouflages, doesn’t clog pores and more. Who wouldn’t want a foundation to do all of that?! I know I do which is why I bought this to see if it really can. I will note that today was the first day I tried this foundation, and I like using something several times before I make my decision on if I like it or not. I also like to apply it differently (sponge, brush) before I decide if it’s good or not. Today I applied it using a foundation brush and while I did think it applied well (a little goes a long way) as the day went on I found it was starting to get a bit patchy especially around my t-zone. I don’t know if this is due entirely to the foundation or perhaps the primer and finishing powder didn’t set it well, so that is something that can be determined after a few uses of the foundation. I do agree that when first applied, and a while after this product does seem to be full coverage, and I did find my skin to be more even with less texture apparent. However, as I mentioned as the day went on it begin to look patchy and my skin appeared quite oily. In regards to removal it came off easily with my face wash. Overall based off first impression I like how it applied and initially looked on my skin, but as the day wore on I wasn’t as big of a fan. Have you tried this product? What are your thoughts on it? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed! xx

Product Pitch: Would I Repurchase?

Product Pitch: Would I Repurchase?

Hello!

I recently decided to clean through my makeup collection as it was long overdue. I thought I’d share what I’m getting rid of let you know if I would repurchase the product or not and why. Perhaps I can do this every few months or so. Let me know if that would be interesting!

Let’s talk primers first

– Smashbox photo finish primer: I heard so many great reviews about this primer, and how fantastic it was. Personally I didn’t see the hype with it. I didn’t think it was bad, but I also thought I could get the same results from a more affordable primer. Therefore I would not repurchase.

– NYX Angel Veil Primer: Seeing how I’m getting rid of two already answers the questions if I’d repurchase this. I think this is a fantastic primer not only for the price but overall. It feels great on my skin and sets my makeup really well. Yes I’d repurchase.

Foundation

– L’Oreal Lumi Cushion Compact: I’ll just cut right to it… I did not like this foundation. It looked so patchy on my skin, it dragged whether I applied it with the cushion, a brush, or blender sponge. It made my skin look oily. It just wasn’t good. This will not be repurchased.

– Maybelline BB Fresh: Thankfully this one applied better and while I like the idea of a B.B. cream for more casual makeup days, there was one problem with this one which was the finish. While it applied nicely as the day went on the product would separate specifically around my t-zone, and I would just look very oily. I might try the other B.B. cream from Maybelline in the blue package, but I would not repurchase this one.

– IT cosmetics CC+ Cream: Now this is a fantastic B.B. cream totally worth the price and hype. This is a medium to full coverage foundation that hides spots, texture etc without being heavy or feeling cakey. It applies nicely to the skin, looks natural and lasts all day. Yes I would repurchase this.

– L’Oreal True Match: If you saw my mini makeup haul a couple post back you will see I bought a new one of these, so yes I’d repurchase this product. This might be my favorite drugstore foundation of all time. I love it! It applies well to the skin whether I use a brush or sponge. I have used different primers and it always looks good. The coverage is medium but buildable. Like the CC+ it has a natural finish that looks good all day long.

Concealer

– Maybelline Better Skin: I went through so many of these when this product came out several years back because it covered my spots so well. I would repurchase this because I know that it works well for me and as I said covers my spots well and helps my skin appear more even and less textured.

– Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define: After a couple times trying this product I went online and ordered not one not two but three (there was a sale), but still three! This is such a good concealer. It is a great dupe to the Too Faced Born This Way concealer. I actually prefer the Makeup Revolution one. Yes I would repurchase!

– Maybelline Fit Me Concealer: ok this might be gross, but I don’t know how long this specific concealer has been sitting in my makeup bin, so I haven’t used in a long time and therefore I have forgotten if I liked it or not. Have you tried this? If you have and remember what you thought about it let me know if you think it’s worth a repurchase!!

– Physicians Formula #InstaReady Concealer: While the Makeup Revolution is my #1 concealer this one is a close second. There have actually been a few times where I’ve thrown on primer, this concealer, and setting powder, and that was my makeup for the day. This concealer covers spots as well as a full coverage foundation without feeling heavy or like it’s just sitting on top of your skin. It looks as good at the end of the day as it did at the beginning. Yes I would repurchase.

Eye Products

– Covergirl Peacock Flare Mascara: The packaging of this is so cute and I was a fan of the wand however this made my lashes feel so dry and my God was it a pain to get off at night. I made my lashes look good (long and voluminous) but due to how it felt on my eyes and it being a pain to remove I don’t think I’d repurchase. Plus I have so many other mascaras I know work well and that I like a lot more.

– Estée Lauder Eye Pencil: This came as a freebie in a mascara gift set I bought so if I was going to buy it it would be a purchase not a repurchase I suppose. I will however not be buying this eyeliner. One for the fact I don’t wear eyeliner except for maybe once a year and when I do I prefer liquid, and second because I didn’t think this worked well. It just dragged along my eyelid and tugged at it. Perhaps it’s my minimal talent when it comes to eyeliner, but I never liked the outcome when I used this as it just looked sloppy.

Lips

– Kate for Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick: I forgot to look at what shade this was and I threw it away already *facepalm* I do know it was a light pink. I liked the shade of this lipstick, but not the finish as I felt it dried my lips out. There are other matte lipsticks I prefer over this one, so I would not repurchase.

And that is everything I’m getting rid of. I didn’t really think about what I’d repurchase until I sat down to put together this post, and I was quite surprised at how much I wouldn’t buy again. What are some products your pitching? Would you buy them again?! Let me know in the comments.

Products that didn’t work for me.

Products that didn’t work for me.

Hello!

Today i wanted to share a few products that unfortunately did not work for me. I always get so bummed when a product doesn’t work out, but it’s bound to happen from time to time.

The first product is the Flower about face foundation with primer. I should’ve known when I first tested this at the store to not buy this. I always test foundation on the back of my hand to make sure it matches. When i tried this one the oil started sliding down my wrist. I didn’t shake it up that well before doing that, so I gave it a good shake and once again the oil and foundation separated when I pumped it out on my wrist. I grabbed a new bottle (I didn’t test it) thankfully the foundation wasn’t super oily when I pumped it on my wrist at home, but now it was the application I wasn’t happy with. This product just didn’t apply well to my skin. It pretty much absorbed right into my skin and it looked as though I had no foundation on. I really wanted to like this product cause it seems like a great line (I have a mascara and primer I like) but this just didn’t work for me.

The next product is the nourishing mascara from Burt’s Bees. I bought this because i have been wanting to add more natural brand products into my makeup routine. I really like the foundation from BB’s but this mascara is a big no from me. The first time I applied this mascara my eyes immediately started burning to the point it hurt to open my eyes and I cried all my eye makeup off. I annoyingly ended up redoing my entire makeup (always a pain when you have to do that). I decided to try it one more time why? I don’t know and yet again after I applied it my eyes started watering and burning. I however refused to redo my makeup that day so i placed Kleenex’s under my eyes and i only had to touch my eye makeup and under eyes. After two times of a product causing me pain I wouldn’t repurchase it or use it again.

The last product is the Maybelline Master Fixer makeup remover pen. This is a product that was made for me. I put this product in my cart the moment I saw it because I’m always smudging and messing up my eye makeup, so this would be perfect for me. Sadly it was not perfect for me. Instead of fixing smudges or excess mess, this just smudged my makeup even more. Kind of a bummer when a product that is supposed to erase smudges just smudges it more.

Maybe one day I will try the foundation again as it be the only thing I’d be curious to try again, but the mascara will continue to be a big no and although the eraser pen would be a handy product if it worked, it’s not something I really need. Have you tried any of these products? If you did I hope they worked out better for you then they did for me. If you haven’t tried these yet, I don’t want my negative experiences to steer you away from the products because although something doesn’t work for someone doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. If you do try these products let me know how you found them.
