Hello Friends!
I recently ordered this Under the Christmas Tree eye shadow and face set from Too Faced on Nordstrom and I am so excited to try it. No I haven’t actually tried it out yet, but I am going to soon. I just had to get swatches up because I think these shades are so pretty and you can create so many different looks with these colors.  I received last years Too Faced Christmas set as a gift, and I real liked it and used it all the time, so I hoping I have the same experience with this one. If you want to order this it is still 30% off at Nordstrom making it $34.00 instead of $49.00!
Have you gotten this set and/or tried it yet! Let me know!

CoverGirl Product Review

Today I wanted to share my thoughts on a couple makeup products that I have been using. I was going through a phase where I didn’t like any of the makeup I had especially my foundation. It always looked patchy, didn’t apply well and would always rub off no matter how much powder and spray I used. I know that’s such a minimal problem, but it was really frustrating because it was happening with some of my favorite foundations. Anyways I decided to try out some new products and a couple that I picked up where the CoverGirl Clean Matte BB Cream for oily skin and the CoverGirl Color Naturalizing Skin Primer.

I hadn’t read any reviews on either product, so they where purchased on a bit of a whim. What drew me to the BB cream was that it was specifically geared toward oily skin. And my skin has been very oily recently. Especially around my nose. If you’ve ever tried the Maybelline BB cream with the blue cap or the one with the white cap the consistency and texture of this is very similar to those. However unlike those products in my opinion and my experience I prefer this one a lot more. This one applies so nicely to my skin no matter if I use a brush or sponge. It blends in nicely into my skin and doesn’t look cakey. I would describe the coverage as medium but buildable.

With other foundations I was trying or using they would look great when I first applied it, but as the day went on it wouldn’t look as great and I’d come across problems I mentioned earlier. One big one was foundation wouldn’t stay on my nose no matter what I used for primer or spray it run right off especially around my nose. I won’t lie throughout the day some of this product will rub off, but for the most part it stays on pretty well.

My opinion of the primer won’t be as in depth as the foundation because I’m not really sure how detailed you can get about a primer… but anyways I was relatively surprised by this product. Having suffered from a lot of redness especially around my cheeks I have tried many different color reducing primers, and typically wasn’t super impressed with them. They did a good job at providing a base for my makeup, but in regards to reducing redness I didn’t notice a change. With this primer I actually see a difference after it is applied. This does a great job at helping to apply this BB cream really well. That is the only foundation I’ve used with this primer, so I don’t know how well it works with others. Overall I like everything about this primer: consistency, how it applies, lasting ability.

And those are my thoughts on a couple new products. Let me know if you’ve tried these and what you think.

Love Beauty and Planet Review

It seems like this brand Love Beauty and Planet has been highly promoted recently. I decided to check it out and see if the hype was worth it, so I purchased the smooth and serene duo. There are three other duos maybe four, so there are choices which I think is smart. Firstly, I really like the packaging and think the design is very pretty. In regards to smell I wasn’t a huge fan of any of them, but this is the one I liked the most. I personally didn’t find that it smelled of lavender, and if it does it is a very faint smell. Not a major negative, but still something I wanted to share. In regards to the actual quality of the product this did a great job at cleaning my hair, and not to be gross it had been a while since my hair was washed (over a week). I used about two pumps, and that was more then enough. I could probably get away with using less because the products lather really well especially the shampoo. The conditioner did a awesome job at untangling the ends of my hair and it did it really easily. Overall I am happy that I purchased this set and will continue to use it. Have you tried any products from this brand yet? What were your thoughts on them?

My Shower Essentials

Today I am sharing my must haves for the shower from shampoo to shaving cream. I’m also talking about what I use to moisturize after I’m out of the shower.

Let me know what your fave shower products are!

Hair Products

TRESemmé Touchable Softness Shampoo and Conditioner: I have used TRESemmé for years not like a couple of years, but like since the beginning of High School which was 10 ish years ago. I love how soft it leaves my hair, it does a great job at getting out the tangles in my hair, and it leaves it looking so clean over all.

– EVA NYC Therapy Session Hair Mask: The smell alone is what sold me on this product. It smells so good. Obviously though I wanted the actual product to work well and thankfully it did. This is another great detangling product and it leaves my hair feeling so unbelievably soft like run your fingers all the way through your hair soft.

Body Wash

Dove Purely Pampering Body Wash: I am a big fan of Dove. Aside from there body wash I also love their deodorant and bar soap. I like that their body washes smell great without being over powering. This body wash is so moisturizing and leaves my skin feeling so soft.

– Lush Whoosh Shower Jelly: I didn’t jump onto the Lush Band Wagon until earlier this year (yeah, I know.) Just like the Dove body wash this has such a great scent without being over powering. The smell of this wakes me up, so I enjoy using this when I take a shower in the morning. I just think the idea of a shower jelly is so fun! With this product a little bit goes a long way. I will use a quarter sized piece and it lathers up so much into my wash cloth.

Shaving Razor: I don’t have a favorite razor. I do typically buy Venus, but I have bought Gillette before along with those cheap, could cut your whole leg open razors (thankfully they didn’t) what I am saying is I don’t have a brand or specific razor that is my tried and try and true, my most repurchased, must have razor. As long as it shaves my legs and doesn’t cut me I like it.

– Barbasol Soothing Aloe Shaving Cream: Years ago one of my friends told me that she used Barbasol to shave her legs and ever since that recommendation it’s what I have been using. Firstly this stuff is only a $1.49, but secondly I haven’t found another shaving cream that leaves my skin feeling as soft as this does.

– 4-in-1 Foot Paddle: I know this isn’t a shaving product, but I still wanted to include it because it’s a great product, and I do use it in the shower. I am one of those unlucky people that suffer from very dry (let me emphasize the word dry) feet. Especially on my heels (sorry if you dislike feet) Anyways, this product has been such a big help to getting my skin more soft plus it’s so easy to use being a 4-in-1 product.

Neutrogena Body Oil: This is another item that I have used for years. This is so lightweight, absorbs quickly, and once again is a product that smells good without being over powering. I will note that the scent is not long lasting, but that isn’t something that is a con to me. I specifically use this on my legs typically after I shave. It leaves my skin feeling so soft and does a great job at locking in moisture.

– Gold Bond Ultimate Radiance Renewal: This is a thick lotion, so if you don’t like that you may not enjoy this lotion, but I prefer a thicker lotion especially for my legs. This is probably a lotion more gear towards the winter time, but I still enjoy using it during the summer time.

And that is everything that I consider essentials for in the shower. Let me know what your shower must haves are!

Makeup Clear out: What am I Getting Rid Of?

Makeup Clear out: What am I Getting Rid Of?

Okay, so, I have no issues admitting that I am addicted to buying makeup because it’s 100% true and has been for the past 5 ish years. Now they do say admitting you have a problem is the first step, so there was me admitting my problem. Unfortunately for the longest time I wasn’t doing anything about it which led to a makeup collection that was way to unnecessary especially since I use the same 5-10 products unless I am testing out new stuff. Anyways I have come to the realization that I don’t need all the makeup I have and that I need to get better about returning products I don’t like or pitching things I haven’t used for a while or that have gone past their expiration dates. I am trying to get better about cleaning out my makeup, and I am not sure if this will be monthly, bi monthly or if it will just happen randomly.

I decided to do one of these clean outs yesterday and I am sharing what I am getting rid of. I will say unless a product 100% flops or doesn’t work for me personally I will keep it for about a month or two just so I can use it multiple times before I make a final decision on if I want to keep it or not.

Foundations and Powder

Neutrogena Skin Clearing Mineral Powder: I used this stuff in high school and for most of college, and I LOVED it. It was a ride or die, repurchase it over and over again product. Unfortunately when I tried it out a while back recently I didn’t get the same results I remembered getting which was disappointing. I didn’t find that the coverage was as good, so this is going goodbye!

– Maybelline 24 Hour Superstay Foundation: I wanted to love this foundation and while I found the coverage was great at the beginning and it applied well as the day went on this foundation made my skin look so oily and it would start to break up especially around my t-zone.

– Revlon Photo-Ready Instafix: I am really starting to get into stick foundations (yes I know I’m late to the party) and I saw that I had this in my makeup collection, so I decided to give it a try. Sadly this stick foundation was a thumbs down. This just didn’t work for at all. I had the hardest time applying it because no matter what I used it just seemed to grab onto the brush or sponge and not my skin. It would look like I had no product on, so therefore the coverage was non existent. This did not work for me.

Primer and Concealer

Milani Prime Correct Face Primer: I suffer from pretty severe redness on my face especially on my cheeks, so if I see a product claiming to reduce redness I want to try it. I am a big fan of Milani, but unfortunately this product did not make my favorites list. I didn’t mind how it felt on my skin and I found it blended nicely, but it didn’t help reduce my redness, and that is what I was hoping for.

– Covergirl Revitalist Healthy Concealer: I am all about the new look of covergirl and I do think they are coming out this some really cool products, but this concealer is not one of them in my opinion (yours might be different and that is awesome!) I just found that this concealer did no…. concealing. After applying this I would still see my spots, and I know this isn’t full coverage, but I was still expecting some sort of coverage.

– Neutrogena Skin Clearing Concealer: This was another concealer that provided little to no coverage, and I was looking for something more.

Lip Gloss

-Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss: I have started getting more into lip products lately. I still haven’t decided if I am a lipgloss or lipstick kind of girl, but I have decided that these lipglosses did not work for me. I absolutely loved this color, but when I applied them they were way to sticky and I couldn’t deal with that feeling all day.

And that is everything I am getting rid of. I will say that this post is in no way to bash any of them companies. I have products from all of these ranges that I love and use all the time. I am just keeping it real in that not everything I try will be a favorite. Let me know if you do one of these clear outs or on an opposite note what products you have been LOVING lately!!

Conair Rose Gold Curling Iron First Impression

Conair Rose Gold Curling Iron First Impression

Find Curling Iron here

Today I am sharing my first impression thoughts on this rose gold curling iron from Conair. This 1 inch barrel iron is the first curling iron I have owned in several years. I have always had longer hair, and I found curling my hair to be a total pain as it took close to an hour. However since I recently cut my hair shorter I wanted to try out curling it since I want to try doing other styles with my hair other then just clipping it back or putting it half up. I really loved how it took half the time to curl my hair as compared to when it was longer. I still need to improve my skills in the back but that always seems to be a struggle.

Seeing as I haven’t owned a curling iron for several years as just mentioned I am not incredibly well informed in the world of hair tools,  but I am still knowledgeable enough to know whether something is decent or just plain sucks. Personally I was looking for something that was easy to use, curled my hair well and held the curl all day. I purchased this product from Target and yes the rose gold color was what initially drew me to this curling iron because if it’s rose gold I’ll take it. The price of this was also enough reason to buy this seeing as it’s under $20. This does have some mixed reviews some people enjoyed it while others were not very impressed. Some find the on/off switch to be a bad spot, but I didn’t have any issues with it. The iron heated up quickly and it was very easy to use. I found that  it easily curled my hair and held the curl all day. I am going to give this a few more tries before I make my final decision on whether or not it is a keeper.

What are some of your must have hair products? I wanna start taking better care of my hair, so share shampoos, conditioners, etc as well as tools like blow dryers.

Trying Prime Wardrobe

Trying Prime Wardrobe

I don’t know why my dog looks so weird in the last photo.. I guess we all have bad angles lol

Today I wanted to talk about a new service Amazon Prime has started which is Prime Wardrobe. Prime Wardrobe is all about try before you buy which in the world of online shopping is a great idea. I love Amazon as it is already and am a prime member because it’s a great thing to have, but when I saw this clothing service they have just introduced I knew I needed to try it out. So how does this work you might ask? Well I will briefly explain to you. You can pick up to 8 items that are prime wardrobe qualified there are hundreds of options, the items are sent to you and upon the day of arrival you have seven days to decide what you want to keep and what you want to send back. You will only have to pay for what you keep. You can choose from so many items including jewelry, clothes, and shoes! The options available are so impressive and I am sure they will be adding more.  Prime Wardrobe is available for men, women, and children.
This service seems like the perfect option for so many people including busy parents, online shopping addicts like me and people who hate going to the store to try on clothes (also me).

Check out Prime Wardrobe here

I ordered five pieces of clothing to try out, and I thought I would share what  I am keeping and what I am sending back.

– Democracy Ruffle Yoke Cold Shoulder Top find here: This top needs to see an iron badly, but other then that it’s good top. I think the ruffles and detailing are so so cute. I will be keeping this item.

– Levi Boyfriend Jeans find here: I am really into the boyfried style right now, but unfortunately these ones did not fit me right well and will be returned. I prefer more high waisted jeans and these are lower riding. I liked how they made my legs and booty look, but they were just to tight around the stomach and I eat to much pasta to have tight pants…

– Calvin Klein Light Blue Blouse find here: I loved the sleeve detailing of this top and love the color of it, but I didn’t think it was a must have item for me as I already have a ton of blouses, so I will be sending this back. The white jeans I paired with this top were already in my closet and are from Old Navy.

– Jessica Simpson Navy Blouse find here: I realize I just said I didn’t need the previous top because I have so many blouses already, but I am tossing that idea out the window with this top because I think it is so cute, and I already know I will get a lot more wear out of it compared to the light blue top. I don’ think my photo does this top justice especially the sleeve details, so check out the Amazon photo. This top is a keeper.

– Silver Jeans Co Skinny Crop Jeans find here: When I ordered these I wasn’t truly sure how I felt about them, but after trying them on and seeing how they looked I really like them, plus they are very comfortable. I am going to be keeping these and think I will get a lot of wear out of them.

And that is everything I received in my first Prime Wardrobe order. I am sure I will be using this service again seeing how easy it was to use. Let me know if you try this out and what your thoughts on it are.

Product Pitch: Would I Repurchase?

Product Pitch: Would I Repurchase?

I recently decided to clean through my makeup collection as it was long overdue. I thought I’d share what I’m getting rid of let you know if I would repurchase the product or not and why. Perhaps I can do this every few months or so. Let me know if that would be interesting!

Let’s talk primers first

– Smashbox photo finish primer: I heard so many great reviews about this primer, and how fantastic it was. Personally I didn’t see the hype with it. I didn’t think it was bad, but I also thought I could get the same results from a more affordable primer. Therefore I would not repurchase.

– NYX Angel Veil Primer: Seeing how I’m getting rid of two already answers the questions if I’d repurchase this. I think this is a fantastic primer not only for the price but overall. It feels great on my skin and sets my makeup really well. Yes I’d repurchase.

– L’Oreal Lumi Cushion Compact: I’ll just cut right to it… I did not like this foundation. It looked so patchy on my skin, it dragged whether I applied it with the cushion, a brush, or blender sponge. It made my skin look oily. It just wasn’t good. This will not be repurchased.

– Maybelline BB Fresh: Thankfully this one applied better and while I like the idea of a B.B. cream for more casual makeup days, there was one problem with this one which was the finish. While it applied nicely as the day went on the product would separate specifically around my t-zone, and I would just look very oily. I might try the other B.B. cream from Maybelline in the blue package, but I would not repurchase this one.

– IT cosmetics CC+ Cream: Now this is a fantastic B.B. cream totally worth the price and hype. This is a medium to full coverage foundation that hides spots, texture etc without being heavy or feeling cakey. It applies nicely to the skin, looks natural and lasts all day. Yes I would repurchase this.

– L’Oreal True Match: If you saw my mini makeup haul a couple post back you will see I bought a new one of these, so yes I’d repurchase this product. This might be my favorite drugstore foundation of all time. I love it! It applies well to the skin whether I use a brush or sponge. I have used different primers and it always looks good. The coverage is medium but buildable. Like the CC+ it has a natural finish that looks good all day long.

– Maybelline Better Skin: I went through so many of these when this product came out several years back because it covered my spots so well. I would repurchase this because I know that it works well for me and as I said covers my spots well and helps my skin appear more even and less textured.

– Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define: After a couple times trying this product I went online and ordered not one not two but three (there was a sale), but still three! This is such a good concealer. It is a great dupe to the Too Faced Born This Way concealer. I actually prefer the Makeup Revolution one. Yes I would repurchase!

– Maybelline Fit Me Concealer: ok this might be gross, but I don’t know how long this specific concealer has been sitting in my makeup bin, so I haven’t used in a long time and therefore I have forgotten if I liked it or not. Have you tried this? If you have and remember what you thought about it let me know if you think it’s worth a repurchase!!

– Physicians Formula #InstaReady Concealer: While the Makeup Revolution is my #1 concealer this one is a close second. There have actually been a few times where I’ve thrown on primer, this concealer, and setting powder, and that was my makeup for the day. This concealer covers spots as well as a full coverage foundation without feeling heavy or like it’s just sitting on top of your skin. It looks as good at the end of the day as it did at the beginning. Yes I would repurchase.

Eye Products

– Covergirl Peacock Flare Mascara: The packaging of this is so cute and I was a fan of the wand however this made my lashes feel so dry and my God was it a pain to get off at night. I made my lashes look good (long and voluminous) but due to how it felt on my eyes and it being a pain to remove I don’t think I’d repurchase. Plus I have so many other mascaras I know work well and that I like a lot more.

– Estée Lauder Eye Pencil: This came as a freebie in a mascara gift set I bought so if I was going to buy it it would be a purchase not a repurchase I suppose. I will however not be buying this eyeliner. One for the fact I don’t wear eyeliner except for maybe once a year and when I do I prefer liquid, and second because I didn’t think this worked well. It just dragged along my eyelid and tugged at it. Perhaps it’s my minimal talent when it comes to eyeliner, but I never liked the outcome when I used this as it just looked sloppy.

– Kate for Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick: I forgot to look at what shade this was and I threw it away already *facepalm* I do know it was a light pink. I liked the shade of this lipstick, but not the finish as I felt it dried my lips out. There are other matte lipsticks I prefer over this one, so I would not repurchase.

And that is everything I’m getting rid of. I didn’t really think about what I’d repurchase until I sat down to put together this post, and I was quite surprised at how much I wouldn’t buy again. What are some products your pitching? Would you buy them again?! Let me know in the comments.

Products that didn’t work for me.

Products that didn’t work for me.

Today i wanted to share a few products that unfortunately did not work for me. I always get so bummed when a product doesn’t work out, but it’s bound to happen from time to time.

The first product is the Flower about face foundation with primer. I should’ve known when I first tested this at the store to not buy this. I always test foundation on the back of my hand to make sure it matches. When i tried this one the oil started sliding down my wrist. I didn’t shake it up that well before doing that, so I gave it a good shake and once again the oil and foundation separated when I pumped it out on my wrist. I grabbed a new bottle (I didn’t test it) thankfully the foundation wasn’t super oily when I pumped it on my wrist at home, but now it was the application I wasn’t happy with. This product just didn’t apply well to my skin. It pretty much absorbed right into my skin and it looked as though I had no foundation on. I really wanted to like this product cause it seems like a great line (I have a mascara and primer I like) but this just didn’t work for me.

The next product is the nourishing mascara from Burt’s Bees. I bought this because i have been wanting to add more natural brand products into my makeup routine. I really like the foundation from BB’s but this mascara is a big no from me. The first time I applied this mascara my eyes immediately started burning to the point it hurt to open my eyes and I cried all my eye makeup off. I annoyingly ended up redoing my entire makeup (always a pain when you have to do that). I decided to try it one more time why? I don’t know and yet again after I applied it my eyes started watering and burning. I however refused to redo my makeup that day so i placed Kleenex’s under my eyes and i only had to touch my eye makeup and under eyes. After two times of a product causing me pain I wouldn’t repurchase it or use it again.

The last product is the Maybelline Master Fixer makeup remover pen. This is a product that was made for me. I put this product in my cart the moment I saw it because I’m always smudging and messing up my eye makeup, so this would be perfect for me. Sadly it was not perfect for me. Instead of fixing smudges or excess mess, this just smudged my makeup even more. Kind of a bummer when a product that is supposed to erase smudges just smudges it more.

Maybe one day I will try the foundation again as it be the only thing I’d be curious to try again, but the mascara will continue to be a big no and although the eraser pen would be a handy product if it worked, it’s not something I really need. Have you tried any of these products? If you did I hope they worked out better for you then they did for me. If you haven’t tried these yet, I don’t want my negative experiences to steer you away from the products because although something doesn’t work for someone doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. If you do try these products let me know how you found them.

Clean & Clear night relaxing jelly eye sheet mask review

Clean & Clear night relaxing jelly eye sheet mask review

Lately I have been obsessed with skincare and trying out a bunch of new products, specifically face mask. There just seem to be so many new products coming out, and I am also so curious to know if they work well. Recently I went to the store and picked up a few products to try out including this eye mask from Clean and Clear. I am pretty sure I haven’t used C&C since High School, so I was interested to see how my skin would get on with it or how I would find it after some years.

To be honest I am not particularly worried about my under eyes and how they look, but I am starting to think that they could use some TLC because as a teacher to 2nd graders you can bet that I have dark circles and puffiness…

Okay, okay, enough chatter… let’s get to the review and how I got on with this mask

Before opening this mask I was worried that it would make a mess as I have found that from past experience a lot of face mask like this seem to have a lot of access liquid that I just spill everywhere, so I was expecting quite a mess. Thankfully this mask was mess free. Application wise the mask went on really easily and it felt like it fit well around my face which is something I have had trouble with with other mask I have previously tried. Now unfortunately that is where my positive review ends with this product.

After wearing this mask for a few minutes (you wear it for 15) my skin started to burn. It wasn’t unbearable but it was uncomfortable. I decided to leave the mask on to see if it went away and unfortunately it did not. After the 15 minutes of wearing the mask I took it off, and my skin was so red and it was still burning. I am not sure if the burning was a reaction to the mask because my skin can be quite sensitive but nevertheless after trying it and having such a negative reaction, I do not want to try it again. I don’t wanna say that I wouldn’t recommend this product, but after a negative reaction and the fact it made zero difference to my skin I personally don’t think its worth trying out. If you do try it, I hope your experience is better than mine!

Have you tried this mask? if so how did you find it?
